Circulation Ikes were made of the same cupronickel "sandwich" that's still used for dimes, nickels, and halves. The core is pure copper and the outer layers are 25% nickel alloyed with 75% copper.
Some 1974 and 1976 coins were struck in 40% silver as collectors' items, but these were available only in special Mint packages.
A 1978-D Eisenhower dollar has no silver in it and is only face value.
