They contain dyes such as :1) Erythrosine which stains red. 2) A combination of eryrthrosine and Hercules Green dye/FDC green to differentially stain old and new plaque. 3)Vegetable dyes from Sugar beets 4)Cobalamin Compounds (B12, Cyanocobalamin). The B12 is more preferrable as it stains only plaque, no odour/bad taste and can be easily removed.
