Premium Unleaded
I wouldn't, unless you want to reck your fuel injectors It is recommended you only use premium grade petrol.
I own a '99 Land Rover Discovery and it's $7-9,000 according to Blue Book. It's in decent condition. Interior is scratched, it's had mid-grade it's whole life, couple dings on exterior, brand new air hydraulic system, and front drive shaft. It's worth it!
Land Rover specifies using 10W/30 for a temperature range of +14 degrees and above. Temps below +14 degrees use 5W30 . Oil and filter change requires 6.1 Quarts.
Depending on the climate of your region most discovery owners choose Shell Rotella T 15-40, 6 quarts. Use with a Mobil 1 Oil filter M1-204.
Yes, I believe it is one of - if not the best off road vehicle. Especially when compared to any other "factory stock" vehicle. I own a 2001 Land Rover Discovery II SE7 with the BOSCH 4.0 engine. I have only gotten it stuck once and that was my fault (has street tires) but I wanted to test out my new "Bad Lands" 12000lb wench - so for myself I have no worries of getting staying stuck. The other big advantage of at least the Discovery II series is the quality used all the way through (many upgrades from series I to II). Just look under the Rover to check out the size of the axles and everything else (I call it military grade or better). Wish I could compare it to the Hummer for you but have not been around those. TIP: Before buying a used Rover take it to a Rover dealer for a buyers inspection!
The correct usage is in Seventh Grade but to use this properly, you must out it in quotes. In "Seventh Grade" by Gary Soto,............
To answer the question of what grade and how many quarts a Disco 2 takes. If it has the 4.6 V8 engine it takes Factory recommends 5W30 and I would recommend using Castrol oil. That is what it came with from factory. And takes 6 quarts of oil.I would get the Land rover oil filter or a MANN filter. They are made to factory specs and won't cause you problems down the road.
grade 3
10/40
10/40 semi for a v8
