The steps of the menstrual cycle begin on the first day of the periods which last for about 5 days. This is followed by follicular phase which is from day 1 to 13 and then ovulation on day 14 and finally luteal phase from day 15 to 28.

the menstrual cycle starts in the pituitary gland.. a woman pituitary gland releases follicle stimulating hormones (fsh) that helps to produce estrogen-it helps to release the mature egg in the ovary- in the follicular stage. in the ovulation stage, egg is release in the ovary.. i the luteal stage, estrogen lowers then progesterone highers that cause the thickening of the wall in the uterine lining that is ready now for pregnancy if fertilization happens. then if their was no ovulation happens, it will undergo to menstruation.
