Not sure what you mean by brain sensor. There are dozens of sensors on the car. They can cost from twenty to hundreds of dollars.

What could cause my speedometer to stop working and transmission to not shift out of first gear in my 2000 Chrysler cirrus?

silinoid pack on transmission It is not the transmission. I have the same car that had the same problem. You need a speed sensor. It cost about 13.00 at autozone and is easy to replace yourself. It is under your front driver's side tire. If you google where the sensor is located, know how to remove and put back on a tire, and screw in a light bulb (cause that is how the sensor comes off and goes on)- it is an easy fix. Oh ya you might have to use a small wrench to get the old one off. Trust me this is it Most likely it is the output speed sensor.
