To purchase a home AC you buy the unit and that includes installation. Depending on the unit it will cost from 8,000 and up. I just recently put a new one on the house and the entire cost was 12,000, but I also replaced the ducts.

i am assuming you have the ductwork in place the cost of a 24000 btu central air conditioner is approx 1600 dollars
Sure you can. If you use a stock unit you will have to cut the firewall. The easiest way to do it would be to buy a vintage air system. They are actually easier to install on a non A/C car than the stock system is.

The average price for a AC unit is about $100-1400, but it really depends on the size you want the AC. For example if you want a huge AC it will cost a little over $1000. But you want a good midsize AC (that fits through your windows) those are over $200 or more.
If you are going to do it yourself - about $600
You will find too many sites selling new ac and old ac it maybe cost 1000$-9000$ every ac have specifications like fan and a lot of specifications find here www.nextag.com/Air-Conditioners www.info.com/BuyNewAirConditioner
