Most likely because the phone is only able to be bought on a plan including data.. I do not agree witht that awncer above most SP service providers only require that u pay for a data plan if it is some sort of promotion like Verizon does it alot, a data plan is not a must for any "today" cellphone, smartphone, or PDA to fuction but a Data plan is to allow u to download apps, use the web browser and use email along with picture messiging but not text that's different. that's all data plans do is unlock the full features of the phone hint if its more than 25 dollors and its not unlimited don't do it i agree with the second answer......if you are on Verizon it is 9.99 for a data plan for th samsung rogue!

Both phones are touch-screens, and they are both for Verizon Wireless. If you read/watch reviews for both of these phones, you will probably see that Samsung Rogue is better than the Glyde. In my opinion, I say that the Samsung Rogue is the best.
