You need to get it lettered to see if it left the factory in that configuration. If it didn't, it's aftermarket work and you will not recoup the money put into it.
The El official is a blued 38 super, with gold plated hammer, trigger, safety and the release, the grips are white cream like color.

A 3 1/2" barrel is one of the most sought after barrel lengths simple do to the look the weapon with that length barrel. Currently a unfired 27-2 with the 3 "T"s with the original box, paperwork and cleaning tools can bring $1000.00 to $1595.00. With no box and in 90% + condition should bring $750.00+. If the gun is nickle plated you can add 20%. Check and see if the grips are serial numbered to the gun. Most came with magna grips. To determine if the hammer and trigger are actually "target" you need to measure them. A .500 hammer is "target" .400 is "semi target." A "target trigger" will measure .400 and a "service trigger" will measure .265. Target grips, hammer and trigger (3 "T"s) would have been a special order.
