The "f" is not a mintmark but rather an initial. With out a date it is impossible to tell the value of your coin. Most buffalo or Indian head nickels aren't worth much. Post a new question and structure it like this to ensure an answer- "What is the value of a <date> US nickel" or " What is a <date> US nickel worth".
August 4, 2009 The most valuable "V" nickel is the 1913. Although the Treasury Department says it was a legally minted coin, it was not authorized to be removed from the mint and only 5 examples are known to exist. In 2007 one of the coins was sold at auction for 5 million dollars making it the most valuable "V" nickel. Of the authorized "V" nickels released for circulation, the most valuable is the 1885. Although the 1912-S has a lower mintage of 238,000 compared to the 1.4 million of the 1885, the 1885 is found in a higher uncirculated grade than the 1912-S. This gives it a value of $75,000 and makes it the most valuable "V" nickel released for circulation.
It's not possible to give an answer without a date. Look for questions in the form "What is the value of a US nickel?" for specific information.

A "V" nickel. The "V" is actually the Roman numeral 5. The only US coins to have this are the Liberty Head nickels struck from 1883 to 1912 For specific values, enter the question "What is the value of a (date) US nickel?" in the box at the top of the page. (date) is of course your coin's date.
The US has never minted a nickel with a bull (i.e. male cow) on it. You're almost certainly thinking of a buffalonickel. If your coin is so worn that its date isn't visible, it's called a "cull" and is only worth 10 cents or so. If it has a date, please see the question "What is the value of a US nickel?" for detailed information.
Two of the most valuable varieties are the 1943 copper and 1944 steel cents, with values of many thousands of dollars. A couple other well known errors are the 1955-D double die cent and the 1937-D three-legged buffalo nickel.
