Ecology = the relationship of organisms between each other and their natural environment. Fragile = vulnerability. Thus, ecological fragility where the organisms within an environment are vulnerable to something. For example, a swamp that is drained or poisoned, a tropical forest that is cut down for timber, etc. The opposite - ecological robustness - is an ecology that is resistent to adverse forces.

fragile ecosystems are very mean things.

They break your stuff, blame it on you and then pretend that they are angels.

An ecosystem is a collection of living thinks and the environment in which they live. To be fragile means that this system can be easily damaged, it is fragile and vulnerable
