An independent variable is the variable in the experiment that affects the other variable. For example, in an experiment that tests the affect of the amount of fertilizer on plant growth, the amount of fertilizer is the independent variable and the plant growth is the dependent variable. This is because the plant growth DEPENDS on the amount of fertilizer.
The independent variable is what you are changing to get the results. In this experiment, the different types of cheeses are the independent variables. The dependent variable is your result. Therefore the dependent variable is what cheese grew mold faster. The independent variable would be the amount of time you put the cheese out for and the dependant would be the amount of mold growing at the end of each time.
A resulting variable is the variable in the experiment that you don't change. As when the manipulating variable is the variable that you do change.
The independent variable is the part of the experiment that is being tested or the part that is changed by the person doing the experiment. The dependent variable is the part of the experiment that is affected by the independent variable.
The dependent variable is what changes. For example, if you are growing a plant, the growth of the plant depends on the amount of light it is given. The growth of the plant is the dependent variable.
The amount of gas produced.
The independant variable is the variable being manipulated or changed. The dependant variable is the results. For example, seeing how different amounts of steroids affect someones body weight. The independant would be the steroids because you are changing the amount. The dependant is the body weight because those are the results you are getting back.
The independent variable is the one that the person doing the experiment changes themself. The dependant variable is the one that is recorded as results. For example, if investigating the effect of water on the rate of photosynthesis, you would change the amount of water and record how the rate of photosynthesis changes. Therefore, the amount of water is the independent variable and the rate of photosynthesis is the dependant variable.
The independent variable in the experiment is the variable that occurs on its own and does not need anything for it to change, this that is why it is Independent e.g. years, time etc So the Dependant variable is the variable that relies on the independent variable to change and is normally represented on the Y axis. For example, if you had a graph that showed the amount of miles a car travelled over a certain time, the time is always going on and wont stop so its independent. The miles travelled depended upon the time, if the time did not go on the amount of miles travelled also couldn't go on, so it was dependant on the time to change for it to change. So it is the dependant variable.
An independent variable is the variable that was changed. The dependant is what was measured. Eg. If you filled 3 cups of water - one with 1/4 of a cup, one with half a cup and one with 3/4 of a cup. Then you grab a spoon to find the highest note, then the amount of water is the independent variable and the sound is the dependant.
amount of light amount of water amount of force amount of heat etc.the variable that changes and the one that the dependent variable depends on to change
The Independent variable in that experiment would the the Type of soft drink. The Dependant variable would be the amount of fizz in each of the drinks tested.
The amount you make is dependant on how much time you put into it. Also it will depends on what kind and the amount of the coupon you get.
Dependant variable: the variable you measure in an experiment. It changes due to external factors affecting it. It can be time taken, or distance traveled... ect. Independant variable: the variable you change in an experiment. It can be the amount of time, or concentration of a substance... ect. Generally continuous variables, though not always.
The dependant variable in this experiment would be the amount of 'crying' resulting from the cutting of each onion.
