Not as is commonly thought a billion images, the compound eye actually puts together all the images. They actually see in a mix of real time and slow motion. What they cannot see or detect is slow moving objects. How many times have you tried to swat a stationary fly only for it to be gone before the impact? try going in very very slowly and your success rate will rise! seriously they are not psychic!
There was a study done and it beats me how they did it but they managed to fuse some sort of microchip to the optical centre of the fly's brain and translate the data into a viewable image. I'm searching for it now as i type this, but this question came up on the Google search.
1. How is a human eye different from a fly's eye?
flys
flys medium flys flys medium flys
it is about 40cm wide
135 m
flys and other bugs flys and other bugs flys and other bugs flys and other bugs
yes flys are invertabrates
The average diameter is about 20-40 miles across. The calmness of the eye is deceptive. Once the eye passes the other side of the storm comes and so do the winds from the opposite direction.
An elephants eye is 34 millimeters in diameter. The elephants eye is relatively small compared to the size of its head.
Between 24mm and 25mm, or about an inch.
the london eye is half of the diameter so divide the diameter by 2 so 122 divided 2 =61 so that is the radius
Diameter means the space from one side of the circle to the other, cutting throught the center-most point. To answer your question, it means the eye of the hurricane is getting smaller; the diameter length becoming less and less, thus shrinking. If the eye of a hurricane is shrinking that usually means the storm is strengthening.
