that means you get more performance out of a 3rd gen core i5 2.5GHz than in a 2nd gen core i5 of same configuration.
and also 3rd gen cpu produce less heat and have low power consumption.

∙ 10y agothe difference is in how they built it, how efficient they are for example 1st gen processor having clock speed of 2GHz may not always perform on the same speed but the 4th gen processor haswell architecture gives it superior efficiency and performance at much uniform rate. 4th gen processors also are power efficient.
