Physically, PCI slots are light-colored (usually white) and much smaller than the black ISA slots.

Computationally, PCI technology was designed to automatically assign address information to the hardware plugged into it. This was a vast improvement over ISA technology which required a considerable amount of manual configuration.

PCI was the original invention for adding a graphics card (GPU) to the computer. Then they came up with AGP, to utilize a different and more efficient way of connecting the GPU to the computer. And now modern machines use PCI Express. AGP is pretty much completely obsolete.

ISA was introduced by IBM in 1982 and has a maximum data rate of 8 Mb per second. PCI, on the other hand, was introduced 10 years later and has a maximum data rate of 132 Mb per second.

An ISA slot runs at 8 MHz and has a bus width of 8 or 16 bits. PCI runs at 33 or 66 MHz and has a 32-bit or 64-bit bus width. So PCI is much faster than ISA.

What is the difference between an object's speed and a object's velocity?

The difference between an object's speed and an object's velocity is that the object's speed is how fast it is going, and the object's velocity is how many units of speed the object has traveled.

What is the main technical difference between PCI and PCIe?

they may look similar but they are completely differ. the PCI-E has a higher bus speed than the PCI bus speed. since 2004 more devices are using PCI-E expansion.

Can you add memory to a computer using an expansion slot?

Not RAM, the random access memory must be installed in the dedicated slots. You can add secondary memory (like another hard drive) in an expansion slot.

Instantaneous speed is speed measured at a specific time. Speed is an average.

How is it possible that the expansion of the universe is faster than the speed of light?

Relativity theory establishes a speed limit for objects travelling through space - but the expansion of the universe is the expansion of space. There is no speed limit for that expansion.
