∙ 14y agoThe two terms are often used interchangeably. Usually, a 'port' is nicknamed anything which is a simplified 'plug', such as USB, Firewire, speakers, etc.
A 'slot' usually refers to a long connector used internally for logic chips such as videocards, NICs, soundcards, PCI devices, etc.
However the two may be used interchangeably, so it's usually good to specify what *kind* of port or slot when using the terminology, so as to avoid confusion.
IE, an 'AGP port' or 'AGP slot'
