You cannot play the Japanese game in a UK or USA machine unless you also buy a CD to allow them to play. That is the major difference that they will not work in your machine and are unplayable without a special CD. Of course the puzzles and solutions all have differences between the different games. But the fact that they don't work trumps everything else. It is possible to buy the CD and the games that are released in Japan. I've seen the games for sale on EBAY and they are shipped from Japan according to what it written.
