The Queen is the head of state of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She gets her position by birth. The Queen's role is mostly ceremonial. John Major was the Prime Minister of Britain from 1990-97. The Prime Minister has the real responsibility of running the country with Parliament. He or she is the leader of the largest party in Parliament.
