Ram is Random Access Memory which is utilised by your OS to drive any function that the computer initiates, eg. no ram in the computer it wont even start up, or not enough in computer to run something its going to lag due to lack of ram power,
and
Hard Disk or HDD is where information is stored without a HDD an OS cannot exist, sotrage begins with some form of OS then can range from media pictures programs, these internet pages even cache themselves into the hdd at some stage, bost Ram and HDD cant function without each other as they are the main fundamentals that drive a computer in its raw form.

RAM (Random Access Memory) is where you computer stored information temporarily and it is able to access it quickly. Open programs will use the RAM so the more programs running the more RAM is used.

Hard Disks are where your computer will store information for the long term but it is not designed to be as fast as the RAM.

The more RAM you have the more programs you can have running simultaneously and the more memory on your Hard Disk the more information you can store.

It is also possible to allocate part of your Hard Disk to be used as RAM but it will be no where near as effective as proper RAM.

I am not a professional by any means and this is just my understanding of it. I .

Whether java heap exist in hard disk or ram?

Your Hard Disk is where programs and data are stored for later retrieval ( excluding virtual memory) . If a program is in execution it has to be loaded in the memory (by memory I mean the RAM), So your Java Heap has to be in the RAM and cannot reside on the Hard disk.

What computer compacity do I need for 500 MB of hard disk space would a 8 Gb 750 ram be big enough?

I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean 8 gigabyte Hard disk, yes, that's sufficient. If you mean 8.75 RAM, maybe. RAM and Hard disk are different things. RAM is memory that is volatile - it's deleted when you switch your computer off. The hard disk is non-volatile: It stays there forever, until you delete it.

What is R A M in coumputer science?

RAM is "random access memory", often simply called "memory". It is basically where running programs and the data they need are stored. RAM is faster to access than hard disk space, but it is volatile - if the computer is turned off, the contents of RAM are lost. If you "run" a program, it is first copied from the hard disk to RAM. If you open a Word document, it is also copied from the hard disk to RAM. Any changes you do are done in RAM. If you "save" the document, it is copied back to the hard disk (for long-term storage).
