This depends on whether you have the 8 GB iPod Touch (3rd generation) or the 32 GB or 64 GB iPod Touch (3rd generation).
The 8 GB one is essentially exactly the same as the 2nd-generation one. I'm actually not sure if they are actually different, even. If you have the 32 GB or 64 GB one, it's a lot faster, any apps that use the new 3D capability that the 3rd generation and the iPhone 3GS have will support it, it has voice control, it comes with the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic, and needless to say it stores more. However, I honestly can't justify purchasing an iPod touch with 32 GB or 64 GB except for the fact that they'll hold all my music. Other than that I am happy with my 8 GB 2nd generation and the iPhone 3GS I'll be getting soon. An iPod nano, on the other hand, is definitely much better in my opinion.
