What is the difference between a Booking agent and a manager?
July 13, 2009 6:17AM
In modeling a booking agent is a model's main person of contact at the modeling agency he/she is signed to. The booking agent is responsible for finding castings for the model and contacting him/her with the details about the casting, go-see, and is the point of contact if the model has any questions or needs assistance. The only way to have a booking agent is if you are signed to a modeling agency.
You don't need to be signed to a modeling agency to have a manager. The role of a manager is to get exposure and find opportunities for his/her talent. Managers typically represent music artists and actors. Some models have managers if they are freelance but modeling agencies are usually best for models seeking a career in the industry.
Both a booking agent and a manager take a commission from each paying gig they get their talent.
