A classic analogy used to describe power and energy is based on water towers. Water in the tower is energy and the flow of water out of the tower is power. Energy can be stored, like water. It can also flow. When energy flows, it can do work like moving stuff or lighting a house. The speed at which energy flows is called power. The same amount of energy can be released at high power (which will occur quickly) or at low power (which will take more time).
Obviously it is formed in a different way, but the end result is the same. Actually I'm not sure what you mean by physical energy, but we obtain energy by using a fuel such as coal or oil, if that is what you mean I would call that chemical energy. This is the result of burning carbon with oxygen, whereas nuclear power is the result of splitting the nucleus of uranium. Both produce heat which is measured in the same way, calories or joules. (They are interchangeable)

The basis of differentiation is end user. A thermal power plant produces electricity to sell the same to different end users through grid. But, in case of a captive thermal power plant generation of electricity generally is to meet the demand of power by the parent industry. For e.g. an Alumunium smelter plant requires huge quntity of elctric energy to operate. To secure undisrupted source of energy it may set up its own power plant which in turn can be termed as the captive power plant. But, in certain cases excess electricity can be sold to the market.
