A firework shoots multiple feet into the sky and then explodes like a rocket. They are commonly used on fourth of July in celebration. A road flare can be used anytime of the year and is mostly used for signaling something or someone. For instance, one would use a road flare to signal for help if they were stuck on the side of the road with their broken down car.
Fireworks are man-made explosives that are driven by a violent chemical reaction between oxidizing and reducing substances. A volcano is a naturla hole or crack in the Earth's surface though which molten rock and various gasses can be emitted. The explosive force of a volcanic eruption is driven by gasses trapped under pressure rather than a chemical reaction. The heat of a volcano comes from Earth's hot interior.
The most obvious difference between the three types of volcanoes are their size. Shield volcanoes are the largest, followed by composite volcanoes, leaving cinder cone volcanoes as the smallest.
