An example of a hyperlink would be a word inside a sentence that is highlighted, when you click on the word you are bought either to a web page or a text box that may either define the word or lead you to a website with more information about the word. An icon is a path to a program that you just have to click on instead of typing in the path as in DOS. All icons are simply DOS commands. If you right-click on an Icon you will see a path like Documents\history\1980\war...in dos you would type in the whole path, but the icon was invented to make it easier.
