Jaw crushers are primarily used for reducing various kinds of stones and lump materials into medium-grained gravel. The materials to be crushed can be hard, medium-hard and soft minerals whose compressive strength should be not more than 320 MPa.
A gyratory crusher is the identical in basic concept to the jaw crusher, consisting of a concave surface and a conical head; both surfaces are typically lined with manganese steel surfaces. The inner cone has a slight circular movement but doesn't rotate. As with the jaw crusher, material travels downward between the two surfaces being progressively crushed until it's sufficiently small to fall out of the gap between the two surfaces.
