German Shepherds have three coat types: tight (short haired), plush (medium haired), and coated (long haired). The plush coat is preferred. Both the tight and the plush coats are doubled, which means they consist of two types of hairs: stiff guard hairs and fluffy undercoat hairs. The guard hairs shed water while the undercoat insulates the dog. Coated dogs have an extra long undercoat and are lacking guard hairs. Because they are not double coated like the other two, being coated is a serious fault in the conformation show ring.
Unless you shave their puppy coat, yes. They will grow with an undercoat (puppy coat) and their regular coat. You have to make sure you keep them groomed every winter and summer so their coats will be even.
Yes, German Shepherds have an extremely thick coat and it sheds non-stop. You will find hair everywhere from the butter bowl to under the bed. :) However, GSD's are amazing animals and the good out weighs the bad! :D
According to to the AKC, German Shepherds are supposed to have a double coat.
there is no difference between double coat and single coat german shepherd.all german shepherds have double coated fur.the only difference is long haired and short haired.
Yes, both long and short do.
Yes, they are exactly the same! White German shepherd are white because German shepherds have a recessive gene that makes their coat white.
There are many breeds, not of an exact number, who have two coats. Generally breeds that succumb to harsh conditions, ie: Husky, Malamute, Eskimo dog ect have this coat. German Shepherds also have this coat. If the dog sheds very heavily they generally have a 'double' coat, which is the proper term.
German shepherds are also called Alsatians.
There is no information on the actual cost of the Gosselin's German Shepherds. Those dogs were not German Shepherds but a mix so not much.
German shepherds come mostly in brown and tan colors
no. White German shepherds are not recognized by the K.C
Of course not! they can hear perfectly well. The only difference between white German shepherds and black and tan German shepherds is their colour!
German shepherds are mostly common in Germany since that is their origin.
It's probably a Belgian Sheepdog/Belgian Shepherd) (Chien de Berger Belge). they are black-furred dogs that look similar to a German shepherd. There are pictures of them on dogbreedinfo.com
no they are not
GSD's can survive in most habitats, given their double coat.
Not all German Shepherds ears go up.
