There is no transportation system in any city that can compare in effeciency with the circular system of our body. If you can imagine two systems of pipes, one large and one small, both meeting at a central pumping station, you will have an idea of the circulatory system. The smaller pipes go from the heart to the lungs and back, while the larger ones go from the heart to the various other parts of the body. These pipes are called arteries, veins and capillaries. Arteries are vessels in which blood is carried away from the heart. In veins, the blood is coming back to the heart. In general terms, arteries are carrying pure blood to various parts of the body, and the veins are bringing back blood loaded with waste products. The pumping station is of course the heart. Arteries lie deep in tissues, except at the wrist, over the instep, at the temple and along the sides of the neck. At any of these places the pulse can be felt, which gives the doctor an idea of the condition of the arteries. The blood in arteries is bright red in color and moves through in spurts. Veins lie closer to the surface of the skin, and the blood in them is much darker in color and flows more evenly. Veins have valves and intervals all along their course.
Fact File: Blood contains red and white blood cells that float inside a liquid called plasma. It also contains thousands of different substances needed by the body. Blood carries all this things round the body and also removes waste products.
Arteries carry blood away from the heart, and veins carry blood towards the heart. For the most part, arteries transport oxygenated blood and veins carry deoxygenated blood. There are two exceptions to that rule. The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs, and the pulmonary vein carries freshly oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium. Additionally, the umbilical vessels in a developing fetus are also an exception.
arteries are tough and large. they carry oxygenated blood out of the heart to the rest of the body and organs. there are only two arteries that bring de-oxygenated blood back to the heart, . they are the major highways for blood to flow.
veins are pulmonary and umbilical arteries. veins, however bring blood back to the heart from the organs and body.
MORE SPECIFIC:
Veins serve to return blood from organs to the heart. blood is pumped by the left ventricle through the arteries to the muscles and organs of the body, where its nutrients and gases are exchanged at capillaries, entering the veins filled with cellular waste and carbon dioxide. The de-oxygenated blood is taken by veins to the right atrium of the heart, which transfers the blood to the right ventricle, where it is then pumped through the pulmonary arteries to the lungs. In pulmonary circulation the pulmonary veins return oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium, which empties into the left ventricle, completing the cycle of blood circulation.

The major difference between an artery and a vein is that an artery carries blood away from the heart and a vein carries blood to the heart. The blood carried by the artery has been oxygenated while the blood carried by the vein is on the way to be purified and oxygenated.

The difference is that venous thrombosis refers to a blood clot that forms in a vein and deep vein thrombosis is a clot that forms in the deep veins of a leg.

A vein is larger than a venule. It is also closer to the heart and farther from the capillaries than a venule.

Spider vein treatment typically includes medicine or topical creames. Varicose typicall include thearpy and massage.
Vein :mass of rock which occupy fissures in other rocks, Dike is sedimentary layer cuts across preexisting rocks.
Archery is a sport involving shooting an arrow with a bow. A vein is a blood vessel responsible for returning deoxygenated blood from the body back to the heart.
arteries 've short lumen where as veins 've large lumen.
Arterial flow means the blood flow is moving towards the heart, whereas a vein flow is when the blood moves away from the heart.
They are called arterioles.
