Aboitic factors are not living things. Biotic factors are living things.
Parts of the ecosystem that are not alive like the sun, water, or rocks are known as abiotic factors. Living things like grass, animals, trees are known as biotic factors.

Biotic means of, relating to, or resulting from living things, especially in their ecological relations. Abiotic is not derived from living organisms. So biotic factors include plants and animals, while abiotic factors include rocks and water. Literally life and death.

Biotic = Living, like plants and animals

Abiotic = Non-living, like rocks and wind and temperature
