the vaccinations we use to vaccinate a 9 week old kitten have exactly the same dose of vaccine virus in them that we use to vaccinate an adult cat. it is the same effective dose to stimulate the immune system into producing antibodies so if the kitty ever encounters the wild virus, anitbodies will be produced quickly and fight off the virus. we however give kittens 2 injections of the same dose of vaccine 3 weeks apart to ensure they have responded to the vaccine- kittens will have some antibodies from their mother's milk at 9 weeks of age so they may not respond fully to the first dose of vaccine.

Can't afford kitten cat food at this time can i feed my 7 month old kitten with adult cat food?

Yes, of course. The nutritional needs of an adult cat and a kitten are the same; its just the amounts that should be fed to an adult or kitten that are different. For the most part, kitten and adult food from the same brand are the same, or at the very least, very similar in terms of ingredients and nutrients. Feeding a kitten adult food is absolutely fine. The biggest difference between the two is usually texture. Kitten food is usually softer in texture or has smaller pieces. Dry adult food pieces may be too big for a small kitten, but wet food can easily be mashed up in order to be eaten more easily. Premium cat food brands are suitable for both adults and kittens and do not offer a "kitten" range.

How long do kittens need kitten food?

Strictly speaking, healthy kittens do not "need" a specific kitten food. A kitten can eat adult cat food at any age, provided they are fully weaned. The nutritional needs of an adult cat and a kitten are the same; it is just the amounts that should be fed to an adult or kitten that are different. Kittens will often eat more than an adult cat, as they are still growing and developing, and need to be fed "little and often" due to their smaller stomachs. Adult cats need less food than kittens, and most are comfortable being fed twice a day. For the most part, kitten and adult food from the same brand are the same, or at the very least, very similar in terms of ingredients and nutrients. Feeding a kitten on adult food is absolutely fine. If you are unsure about the current kitten food you are feeding, compare the ingredients between the the kitten and adult versions and see what differences (if any) there are. Would a clan of three adult cats kill a kitten new to your home?

It is very unlikely. Most adult cats don't kill kittens. Adult cats are territorial and want their space. Otherwise, they usually avoid the kitten. Normally adult cats will hiss and growl at the kitten. Then pop the kitten with its paw. Then go away. Some adult cats will adopt the kitten. I have an adult female cat that adopts kittens as her own. She lets the kitten nurse, she cleans it and plays with it.
