Yes, gypsum and Plaster of Paris (POP) are closely related. POP is actually made by heating gypsum, so their chemical reactions are similar when mixed with water—they both harden quickly and are used for wall and ceiling finishes. But in real usage, gypsum plaster is better than regular POP. It’s stronger, more crack-resistant, and doesn’t shrink much after drying.
