Caliber refers to the size of the bullet in the cartridge, or the size of bullet the gun is designed to fire. Magnum refers to a cartridge with a higher level of pressure/powder than another one similar to it. For example: a .44 magnum has a longer casing and more powder than a .44 special.
One would think that .380 ACP and .38 Special would be the same size--namely 38-hundredths of an inch. But there can be some flexibility in stated caliber and actual caliber. Long story short, .380 ACP is the same diameter as a 9mm, roughly .355 caliber. .38 Special is basically .357 caliber.
Generally speaking, the .45 caliber bullet is larger in diameter and heavier than a 9mm bullet.

A 44 magnum is just the new and improved version of the 44 special which the special is a 44 caliber. Magnum just means bigger so the 44 magnum is pretty much in between 44 and 45 cal. However, if you mean size, .45 is slightly larger in diamater than .44.
@ .05 inches
Length of the case. <><><> Despite the similar names, .22 Magnum also has a slightly larger diameter than a caliber 22. LR cartridge.
Remington did not make a carbine in .44 Magnum caliber. They did chamber the Model 788 rifle in that caliber. Do you have a Ruger carbine in .44 Remington Magnum, or perhaps a Marlin in that caliber? sales@countrygunsmith.net
No, there are .357 caliber bullets that are not magnum, but they are in the minority.
38 special is only a revolver caliber. that's like saying a 44 magnum revolver or a 500 special revolver. a revolver is a revolver
22 is a rimfire, 222 is a centerfire.
They are the same; just said in different order.
the 40 cal is a little bigger then the 357
The .22 magnum is more powerful, longer and a larger diameter than the .22lr. The magnumcartridge does not use the "heel seated" bullet of the .22 LR, and USUALLY has jacketed bullets. The full name is .22 WMRF (Winchester magnum rim fire) and they do NOT interchange with .22 LR. There have been a few revolvers built with two different cylinders to permit switching between LR and Magnum.
