Chickenpox is a viral illness caused by varicella zoster virus. It typically causes a rash of blisters, sores, and scabs over the whole body. Scarlet fever is a complication of infection with Group A beta streptococcus, a bacteria. It causes a very fine, sandpaper-like rash of bumps without blistering, sores, or scabs.

Chickenpox is worse than measles from a medical standpoint, although today people are not used to seeing measles anymore & get more freaked out over it. The chicken pox vaccine is relatively new by comparison, so more parents had that & are comfortable with it.

Chickenpox gives raised blisters that ooze & scab over. They also give you a potential for devleoping shingles later in life. Measels is a flat itchy red spotty rash.

Chickenpox is caused by varicella zoster virus and is very contagious. It is usually spread over the whole body and is more dangerous than measles. Measles, like chickenpox, is a vaccine-preventable disease. Measles forms a rash on the chest. It is not as contagious as chickenpox.

Their main difference lies with their symptoms. Chickenpox has raised lesions with fluid in them sometimes, while measles is not raised and more small in size like a pinpoint. The illnesses also differ in terms of where the lesions usually start. For measles, they start mostly on the trunk while on chickenpox they start more on extremities and face.
