The World War II leaders, Churchill and Hitler, were similar in being superb orators, heads of powerful nations, and very charismatic persons. The great difference between the two was that Hitler was intent on world-domination through military aggression and any other means possible, while Churchill was committed to stopping him and the totalitarian state (Germany) which he ruled as dictator.
Germans are an ethnic group or nationality. A Nazi is a member of a specific political party (while, while mostly was made up of Germans, was not exclusive to Germans).
In practice, the vast majority of the German populace were not Nazis, though many did support the Nazi Party's policies. The popular support for such policies probably peaked around 1939 or so, though there were major dissenting portions of the German populace throughout the 1930s.
