Diffusion is the process in which there is movement of a substance to an area of lower concentration of that substance to an area of lower concentration whereas osmosis is the diffusion of molecules through a semipermeable membrane from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower concentration until the concentration on both sides is equal.

Difference between simple diffusion facilitated diffusion and osmosis?

the difference about the osmosis, facilitated diffusion, and the diffusion is that the Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane. facilitate

What is primary difference between diffusion and osmosis?

Osmosis is only the transfer of water through membranes.

Whats the difference between diffusion and osmosis?

The difference between diffusion and osmosis is that diffusion deals with the movement of molecules from an area of high solute concentration to an area of low solute concentration, while osmosis is the movement of molecules, in a similar fashion, across a semi-permeable membrane. See reverse osmosis.

What is the difference between passive transport and diffusion?

diffusion is through air, but osmosis is through water.

What does concentration have to do with osmosis and diffusion?

There has to be a difference in concentration in order for diffusion and osmosis to occur.

What is the difference between the processes of osmosis and diffusion?

Osmosis is the diffusion of water thru a semi permeable membrance . diffusion deals with the movement of materials from hi to low concentration

Distinguish between diffusion and osmosis?

The difference between Diffusion and Osmosis is by the process of them diffusing and the outcome such as an example of a sugar cube... In Diffusion Molecules move from high concentration just Osmosis although in the diffusion process of "Diffusion" it uses Kinetic energy and Concentration Gradient while "Osmosis" does not require cells to expand energy, in result Osmosis uses Passive Transport of Water.

The difference between osmosis and diffusion is that osmosis is the spreading of water from a high to low concentration while diffusion is the spreading of molecules or particles from a high to low co?

true

What is the difference between osomosis and diffusion?

Diffusion is the movement of particles from where they are in high concentration to where they are in low concentration. Osmosis is the movement of water from where it is in high concentration to where it is in low concentration. Basically, osmosis is the diffusion of water specifically.

Difference between deffusion and osmosis?

Diffusion is the process in which particles move from a high concentration area to a low concentration area. Osmosis is the diffusion of water, again to equalise concentrations.

What is the difference of osmosis and diffusion?

Diffusion is the process by which a substance passes through a membrane passively.Osmosis IS diffusion, just the substance involved is water.

5 differences between diffusion and osmosis?

The differences between diffusion and osmosis are really just that osmosis takes place with water and through a membrane. Diffusion is just the spread of molecules from high concentration to low. Osmosis is diffusion of water through a membrane.

The difference between diffusion and osmosis?

Osmosis is diffusion across a semipermeable membrane. Thus only some parts of the material can flow. (For instance ... water might flow but not the salt in the water.)

What is the difference between passive transport active transport diffusion and osmosis?

nothing there all the same

What is the relationship between osmosis and diffusion?

The relationship is that osmosis is the diffusion of water throught a selective permeable membrane.

Differentiate between osmosis and diffusion?

Osmosis is related to movement of water where as diffusion is related to movement of gases.

Give the difference between diffusion and osmosis?

diffusion- it is the type of passing of liquid from one part to another. it has semi-permeable membrane to pass the liquid. osmosis-it is the type of passing liquid but it has no membrane.

What is the difference between osmosis and diffusion in terms of energy used?

Diffusion takes more energy to spread all the molecules out, while osmosis is just the total amount of water over a membrane.

What is the difference in diffusion and osmosis?

Diffusion is the transport of materials from a high concentration to an area of low concentration across a gradient.Osmosis is the term used for the diffusion of water.

What is The difference between osmosis and diffusion in cells?

Osmosis is a term applied to the movement of a solution to a zone with solutes.Diffusion is a term applied to a substance moving from a high concentration zone to a low concentration zone.

Differences between osmosis and diffusion?

Diffusion is the movement of a substance from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a semi-permeable membrane. So the difference is that diffusion involves movement of any particles (e.g. solid, liquid, gas) while osmosis can only occur with water. Another one is that diffusion can occur with or without a membrane but osmosis can only occur with a membrane. Hope this helps. :)

What is the Difference between osmosis and diffuusion?

osmosis refers to the movement of water across a membrane. Diffusion refers to everything else tending towards equal concentration.

What is the difference between osmosis and active transport?

Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane, and does not require the input of energy. Active transport requires energy input.

What is the relation between osmosis and diffusion?

Osmosis is a subset of diffusion. Osmosis is a special type of diffusion. The definition of Osmosis is: the diffusion of water through a semi-permeable membrane. The diffusion process continues for ever but the net effect can be measured and noticed until the diffusion rate in both directions becomes equalized producing a state of diffusion equilibrium.

What is the major difference between diffusion and osmosis?

The major difference is that diffusion is spelled "diffusion" and osmosis is spelled "osmosis". The different spelling is what makes them different. Maybe something else too, but I don't know. I think it has something to do with farting through your pants, or farting with your pants down, or something like that. If you have your pants on then the fart gas has to osmoss through your pants before it can diffuse.
