Pigeons and doves are the same family but some of them are more commonly known as doves or pigeons. The collared dove, the white dove and the turtle dove are commonly known as doves whereas the other family members like the feral pigeon, wood pigeon and racing pigeon as known as pigeons. To further confuse, the feral pigeon is descended from the rock dove aka rock pigeon. The wood pigeon is also known as the ringed dove and is largest member of the family. So, a wood pigeon is one type of dove or pigeon whereas the term dove is a general term for the family.
The difference between a dove and pigeon is that the dove is a white bird commonly, found in Jerusalem where pigeons are often found in big cities such as St Johns, Newfoundland. Doves are said to be white as pigeons are normally black or gray in the body, and a metallic green in the neck.
However, in Germany, pigeons are said to be doves, because Germans don't make a difference between these two names. Actually, doves and pigeons are of the same breed, so you cannot blame Germans for not differing between the two.
But really, both have two eyes -most likely- two legs -at least many of them- and two wings -hopefully!
In common use the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are interchangeabe. In ornithological practice, there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically the common names for these birds involve a great deal of variation between the term "dove" and "pigeon."
Although both are members of the dove family, the extinct dodo was a flightless, heavily built bird much larger than a pigeon.
All members of this family make a cooing sound, varying between species.
DOVES are completley white.
I was told the difference is that the dove has a ring around it's neck and the pigeon dosen't.
doves are always white and pigeons are always black mostly just a color difference
It was a bird of the dove family.

Many pigeons live in New York. There's really not much difference between a dove and a pigeon.
The dove is recognized as "peace" in most western countries. The dove is an ancient symbol of peace. It is pictured as a white dove, rather than the gray multi-colored wood dove commonly called a pigeon.
The pigeon is technically a type of bird known as a rock dove. There are several species of doves that are tan in color, but the most common is the mourning dove.
I think a pigeon makes that sound.I'm not entirely sure
