a first language is the one who speak fluently and what you used ever since you was little

e.g.

im british, so my first language would be english, because i was brought up with that langage and it was the first one i learnt

a second language is one you learnt and you're able to speak aswell

e.g.

i can speak french so therefore french would be my second language :)
