Nuclear Fission
Fission does not respond to changes in temperature and pressure like chemical reactions do. In a nuclear reactor, the fission chain reaction can be sped up by removing rods of cadmium, which absorb neutrons. These are in place to prevent the reaction from occurring too quickly. Remove them, and the chain reaction may proceed out of control.
Products of nuclear fission reactions
The general term is "nuclear reaction". An atom may emit alpha, beta, or gamma rays; it may split into two or three smaller parts (fission), or two lighter atoms may combine into a heavier one (fusion).
Hanger rods are used in nuclear power plans as a means by which to control the fission reactions and thereby prevent meltdowns. The rods absorb free neutrons and thus limit the number of fission reactions taking place at any given moment. To this extent, rods can be either added or taken away to control the fission rate (and consequently the power output)
The sun's nuclear reactions are fusion reactions at extremely high temperatures and pressures, while the nuclear reactor's nuclear reactions are fission reactions at typical temperatures and pressures for earth.
The difference between Fusion and Fission is that Fission is easier to do and produces more energy than fusion reactions. However fission can be dangerous and is used in Nuclear reactors. Fusion however is safer and produces less energy but safely. It is quite difficult to cause a Fusion reaction however.
Light is electromagnetic energy. Nuclear energy is energy derived from nuclear reactions, and the nuclear reactions could be either fusion or fission reactions. As regards the energy that appears from nuclear reactions, it can take different forms, including the form of electromagnetic energy.
A nuclear fission chain reaction
- for spontaneous fission the cause is an inconvenient ratio between neutrons and protons- bombardment of the nucleus with particles, especially neutrons
Fission and fusion are different nuclear reactions.
The difference between atomic fission and atomic nuclear is that they both have something to do with atomic and war. Hope this helps I am kind of in a rush......Smile!
it is called a binary fission
Under bombardment with thermal neutrons a nuclear fission is produced with the isotopes 235U and 233U; a formidable energy is released after fission.
neutrons
Nuclear fusion is a nuclear reaction, but so is fission. So not all nuclear reactions are fission.
