Windows 8 is built on the Windows 7 backbone, so it will run programs designed for regular windows even though it is a touch-screen centric interface. at any time in Win8, the user can switch out of the touch-friendly mode and back into the normal desktop. Win 8 is a full blown operating system designed for either desktops or mobile computing with all the robustness and customizabilty of a full copy of windows. iOS, on the other hand, is designed exclusively for phones and tablets. it is more limited in what it can do and run. iOS is designed to run smaller apps rather than running full programs. iOS can not be customized or changed the way that Win7 or OSX can, nor can it run programs that either of those two oprating systems can.
