Java2 is the 2nd incarnation of the Java language. There is J2SE(Java 2 Standard Edition) and J2EE(Java 2 Enterprise Edition). When one says Java2, typically J2SE is assumed.

J2EE is just a subset of objects(classes, methods, enumerations, etc.) that relate to Enterprise applications. That includes database(JDBC), Servlets/JSP(web application programming and design), among a few other third party libraries for web services, networking protocols, etc.
