The males grow from 49-52ft long, and the females from 52 - 56ft long. Only the males 'sing' these crazy songs for mating and/or declaring dominance over pods. And then there's the huge genitals to keep in mind.

For many whale species, the males and females are not very sexually dimorphic. They look the same unless you can see their genital slits on the ventral side; females have nipple slits but males don't. Another criterion for determining gender is behavior: cows that have calves close by or nursing indicate that the adult is female. Sometimes within courtship groups, you'll see the males' penises, which are normally inside their body cavities.
