well a pond has water and a desert is dry also that a desert has what is called a rain shadow effect it is caused when a mountain takes all the rain water and because the mountain takes all the water from the rain the air reaching the other said is hot. i it weren't for does mountain there won't be a desert.
Marshes are more like wetlands. They are more like a really shallow bay with lots of plants and animals,too. There isn't a big difference, but ponds are smaller and ponds might just have like a couple of fish, while a marsh could have a crocodile.
