No difference. They mean the same thing.
No difference.
Nonprofit organizations are focused on a mission to benefit the public good, while for-profit organizations aim to generate profit for their owners or shareholders. Nonprofits do not distribute profits to individuals, while for-profits do.
A corporation such as Microsoft tries to make as much profit as possible where as a non profit Corporation such as a hospital isn't looking to make money
Non profit organizations do not pay dividends to shareholders. It can have any type of purpose. Charities are generally non profit organizations that have the purpose of helping human beings in one way or the other. A charity can run a hospital, a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter, etc. A nonprofit can maintain an old lighthouse, an old battlefield, or a museum, etc. Thus while almost all charities are nonprofit organizations not all nonprofit organizations are charities.

Profit stakeholders have a financial interest in the company doing well, such as a vendor. A nonprofit stakeholder simply wants the company to do well, such as the community in which the company resides.
In the nonprofit world, they generally mean the same thing with the term Boards of Governors being used more often in larger organizations of national scope.
Nonprofit organizations may receive funding from sponsorship, donations, or reimbursement for services. The designation "nonprofit" doesn't mean that the organization doesn't charge for services, but only that any resulting profit (the difference between income and expenses) is used within the agency to further its mission. For instance, both for-profit and non-profit hospitals charge for services, but non-profit hospitals don't distribute profits to owners or shareholders.
A key difference between a non-profit LLC and a nonprofit corporation is their legal structure. A non-profit LLC is a limited liability company that operates for a charitable purpose, while a nonprofit corporation is a separate legal entity formed for a similar purpose. The impact of these differences on the overall structure and operations of each entity lies in the governance, tax status, and liability protection they offer. Non-profit LLCs may have more flexibility in management and profit distribution, while nonprofit corporations typically have stricter governance requirements and tax benefits.
The "Green Bay Packers" is a nonprofit corporation whose board of directors elects a president to run the team. The revenues go to the notprofit corporation. The revenue, primarily, is put into a "team savings fund" so to speak... some of it is just put back into the team for various activities, resources that are needed, etc... but most of it is saved. Player and personnel salaries, building and grounds maintenance, marketing ... basically, the same things other teams do with their revenue. The only difference is that there is no single owner to be enriched from the team's success. Since the Packers are a nonprofit organization, a portion of the surplus is put into holding for future team needs, but a lot of it goes to the Green Bay Packers Foundation, a charitable and philanthropic organization.
