Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane, and does not require the input of energy. Active transport requires energy input.
The difference between osmosis and active transport is that osmosis takes place only in water molecule and active transport takes place in takes place in the internal lining of the small intestine. 2 osmosis takes place in presence of concentration gradient and active transport against the concentration gradient.
Pass transports require no energy and active requires energy. Osmosis is when it travels through water.
active transport requirs energy; osmosis requires very little to no energy
Active transport requires ATP and passive transport does not. Active transport goes against the concentration gradient and passive transport goes with the concentration gradient and includes osmosis, diffusion and facilitated diffusion.
active transport and osmosis
I think you mean "Active Transport" The main differences between the two is that osmosis does not use energy and active transport does. Also osmosis moves from a higher concentration of solution to a lower concentration, whereas active transport can be used to go from a lower concentration of solution to a higher concentration.
osmosis is transfer of solution through a semi permeable membrane, and active transport isn't
Osmosis requires cell energy while active transport does not.
active transport uses energy
active transport uses energy
Osmosis, Passive Transport, and Active Transport
In biology (and cut potatoes in baths) this process is called Osmosis; in the Water Purification Industry the process called Reverse Osmosis is employed.
