Both Phillips and Sony LCD tvs are good quality tvs. Sony really performs in terms of contracts, black level and sharpness to give exceptional picture quality.

no -------------------------- Yes it does happen sometimes, especially Sonys. It may be a simple glitch in the power supply, or rarely - Some infared light (we cant see it) happens to trigger the remote control sensor. Its spooky, but it does happen.

You can walk around a Costco or TV retail store and compare Samsung TVs to similarly featured Toshibas or Sonys and 11 times out of 10, the Samsung will be more expensive, even though the specs will be the exact same on all of the TVs. First of all, the picture just looks better. But we had to find out why.
