Many Victorian era Pennies, Halfpennies and Farthings had either an "Ornamental" or a "Plain" plain trident in Britannias left hand.

The differences are small and you would really need a magnifying glass with one of each type to appreciate the difference, but the ornamental trident has a little more embellishment below the prongs of the trident.
