What is the difference between a distillery and a brewery?

There really is no difference except the actual name itself. Both serve alcohol and food, and are social gathering places. In the UK, the term pub is more commonly used, and barsis more commonly used in the US. Certain bar owners in the US call their establishments pubs to let the public know they serve British food and usually offer good quality European ales, which may or may not be found in average bars.

A pub is a business establishment where customers may buy and drink Alcoholic Beverages. A brewery is a place where beer is produced. An establishment where both are done is called a brewpub.

Today there is no difference at all.

Back in the 16th century however, a Tavern was a private enterprise with patrons being "guests" whereas a Pub (Public bar) was for the public.
