Hi,
I am not a professional graphic designer but I used both from my interest.
In InDesign, you will find somewhat familiarity like others Adobe Software (Photoshop or Illustrator).
But in Quark you will face a different work environment from Adobe.
Overall, both are rich in feature. And remaining things depend upon your type of work and destination of output.
Desktop publishing
Page layout programs.
programs that are used for designing magazines
Definitely Adobe InDesign, sometime I use QuarkXpress for editing old layout but for new layouts I prefer InDesign.
Terry Rydberg has written: 'Exploring InDesign CS2 (Design Exploration)' 'Exploring Adobe InDesign CS4' 'Exploring QuarkXPress (Exploring Design)'
InDesign has you "Place" an image on a page, creating a link to an external image. It's equivalent to "Get Picture" in QuarkXPress). Images can also be embedded.
You can use software like Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, or QuarkXPress for desktop publishing. These programs offer features for layout, design, and formatting of printed materials such as magazines, brochures, and newsletters.
QuarkXPress was created in 1987.
If you are using a text application such as Microsoft Word, QuarkXpress, InDesign, etc., you can type "option 5" and that will give you an infinity sign. -Tonypro Or you can type alt+236 and it will show up as ∞
Software like Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Microsoft Publisher are commonly used for editing newspapers. These programs offer a range of layout and design tools that are specifically tailored for print publications.
The file extension for native InDesign files is .indd (InDesign document). You also get InDesign book files which have an .indb (InDesign book) extension.
Microsoft Publisher is similar to Microsoft Word in that it is a text editing tool. Publisher focusses more on layout and design as it is geared to creating marketing materials. Microsoft Publisher is sold as an entry level tool to Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress.
