You can text people things that you would not be able to say if you were talking to them directly. Mot like you are too scared or nervous to tell them certain things. Like lol you can only use that in a txt and not when talking to someone face to face.

No, it's nice to have. Very convenient if you don't have minutes, or in a tight situation. Face to face is the best form of communication. Calling or texting is the same so...it doesn't really matter.
