One big difference between the movie, The Last Airbender and the cartoon, Avatar: The Last Airbender is that the movie is 2-2.5 hrs and the cartoon spans around twenty 30min episodes to cover the same amount of material - in short, it's really, REALLY condensed.

Absolutely not, it was an embarrassment to a great animated television series. The dialogue in the movie was very static and very unrealistic which took away from the movie experience. The only thing that could've made up for the poor dialogue was the action but even then, that just didn't cut it. I still love my Nickelodeon cartoon more than that movie....

Because one of the movies (the one with the literal Avatar Name) is NOT based on the cartoon, while another one coming out later by M. Night Shylamalan WILL be based on the cartoon. It, however, will not have the name Avatar.
