Compare public interest theory with private interest theory?

Public interest theory of accounting is concerned with achieving publicly desired results which, if left to the market, would not be obtained. The main galvanizer of Public Interest theory is to respond to the demands from the general public in regards to correcting market inefficiencies (i.e. accounting inconsistencies between firms). However, it is difficult to meet demands from all people because competition between demanders is not formally acknowledged by the regulator. what is private interest theory then?

IPO Initial Public Offering is made by private companies to convert it into public based companies and that is the first time ever that company is selling its shares to the public whereas Equity share is the existing share of a company in the market. Once IPO is done, the company doesn't want to buy its own shares from the public, instead the company will pay the interest to the public who holds its shares.

"I think the difference is that a trade association, or a trade body acts solely in the interest of it's members. That's what they pay the subs for, the subscriptions, the dues. Whereas a professional body, yes, it acts in the interest of it's members. But where that conflicts with the public interest, the public interest must come first. That's what distinguishes. "

What is the difference between a special interest and a public interest?

high there...special interest=private interest...and if there is any public good arrising from a special interest it is accidental and arbitrary...and alas often absent...especially in big business...e.g. oil companies in bed with auto companies and rubber companies...sabotage street cars and elevated trains to replace with diesel buses....charged...found guilty...and fined one dollar... public interest...depending upon the nature of the majority(engaged democracy or apathetic re-public) would /should result in actions leading to the advancement of the public good...e.g. closing down streets to automobiles and opening those up to people on foot and on bicycles... its highly unlikely libraries would exist without people believing in the public good
