Jaguars, unlike lions which are physically quite easy to tell the difference between males and females (males have that distinctive mane for example) have sexes that look very similar (i.e. they don't show any, what is called, "sexual dimorphism" - which is just differences in shape (morph) based on sex)

Males and females have the same colouration, but you can usually tell the difference on more subtle cues; males are generally bigger than females (not in the whole animal kingdom, but in vertebrates and big cats they are), they tend to have a broader, squarer face than females. They also tend to have a more pronounced shoulder hump, as their shoulder muscles are slightly bigger than females.

Besides their gender, well. The male is out and looks around and fights. He stays with the female until she gives birth. After she gives birth he will leave her to defend his kids. Sometimes the male will stay. The female will feed the kids and well lets face it the male and female can't fight the same way all the time.
